1) Where do we meet?
You’ll receive directions to our meeting point with your booking confirmation. The easiest way to get here is by taking the JR Sagano Line to JR Saga Arashiyama Station.
2) Are reservations required?
Yes, reservations are required. Booking is simple—just click the “Book It” link on our tours page, select your date, and fill in your details. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
3) What if the weather forecast looks bad?
No worries! If the weather looks unfavorable, we’ll contact you the night before your tour. If rain forces us to cancel, we’ll offer a full refund or help you reschedule.
4) What happens if I need to cancel?
We understand that plans can change, especially while traveling. To secure your spot, we ask for a reservation in advance, which means we turn others away to hold your place. Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the tour start time are eligible for a refund (minus a small processing fee). Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for no-shows.
5) Do I need to be in good physical shape?
Our goal is for you to have a safe and enjoyable bike ride. You don’t need to be an athlete—just have basic biking skills and a positive attitude. If you have any health conditions that may require special attention, please let us know in advance.
6) Do I need travel insurance?
While it’s not mandatory, we highly recommend you have travel insurance for your peace of mind. Please remember, you are responsible for your own safety during the tour.
7) Do you offer large bikes, e-bikes, child bikes, or child seat bikes?
Yes, we have a variety of bikes to suit your needs. If you need a special type of bike (e-bike, child bike, or bike with a child seat), please let us know in advance. Some bikes may require additional fees and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
8) Are there bags on the bikes?
Each bike comes with a small handlebar bag that can fit a phone, wallet, or light jacket. There’s also a water bottle cage for your convenience.
9) What should I wear?
We recommend comfortable cycling clothes that suit the season. During winter, warm gloves are a must; in summer, a hat is helpful. Please avoid wearing baggy pants as they can get caught in the bike. If you have any questions about clothing, feel free to ask in advance!
10) What should I bring?
All you really need is a smile and a lightweight camera! If you want to bring a bag, we recommend a small backpack with just the essentials for comfort throughout the day.
11) Do you offer other tours?
Yes, we do! Feel free to contact us for more information on our other tours.
12) Do you accept solo bookings?
We do! However, our minimum for group tours is 2 participants. If you’re traveling solo, we’ll do our best to accommodate you, and we’ll give you advance notice if a tour is canceled due to insufficient bookings. In the case of a cancellation, you'll receive a full refund.
13) Is there an age limit?
-
The Best of Kyoto Bike Tour (full-day tour) requires participants to be at least 16 years old.
-
The Early Bird Arashiyama Tour and Afternoon Arashiyama Monkey Tour have a minimum age of 10 years old unless booked as a private tour.
-
The Family Bike Tour (Infant and Toddler) requires at least one participant to be under 10 years old. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
14) Do guides accept gratuities?
Tips are not required but are always appreciated as a way to show your thanks for your guide’s hard work.
